About slump.IO

A concrete mix proportioning tool built by a researcher, for engineers who need fast, reliable guidance on site or in the lab.

The App

slump.IO is an independent iOS application for concrete mix proportioning. It implements calculation procedures based on ACI 211.1, IS 10262:2019, and BS 8500, along with a flexible custom mix mode for research and specialist applications.

The app is designed for engineers, concrete technologists, and researchers who need to work quickly — on site, in the lab, or in the field. All calculations run entirely on-device with no account or internet connection required.

slump.IO is a calculation aid. Outputs should always be reviewed by a qualified engineer and validated through trial mixes before structural or commercial use.

The Developer

slump.IO is developed by Dr. Mohammed Fasil, a researcher and educator with a background in structural and materials engineering. The app grew out of a practical need for a fast, reliable proportioning reference in the field.

Dr. Fasil has research and teaching experience in the Gulf region, with publications and industry project involvement spanning concrete materials, structural engineering, and construction technology.

Questions, error reports, and feedback are always welcome at dr.mohammedfasil@gmail.com.

Standards Referenced

slump.IO implements proportioning procedures based on the following standards. The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or verified by any of the issuing bodies. Users should consult the current edition of each standard directly.

ACI 211.1 — Standard Practice for Selecting Proportions for Normal, Heavyweight, and Mass Concrete

Published by the American Concrete Institute (ACI). The app implements the absolute volume method for mix proportioning in both Metric and Imperial units.

IS 10262:2019 — Concrete Mix Proportioning — Guidelines

Published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The app references Tables 2, 3, 4, and 5 of IS 10262:2019 in conjunction with IS 456:2000 exposure requirements.

BS 8500 / DoE Method — Concrete: Complementary British Standard

Published by the British Standards Institution (BSI). The app implements proportioning based on the DoE method as referenced in BS 8500, using free water content and fine aggregate fraction tables.

Custom Mix Mode

A direct-input mode for specifying binder content and W/B ratio. Intended for UHPC, HPC, and research trial mixes. Not based on any specific standard.

slump.IO is not verified or endorsed by ACI, BIS, BSI, or any standards body. It is an independent tool that may contain errors. All outputs must be validated by a qualified engineer before field or structural use. Read the full disclaimer →
